Technology transfer, skills training sessions to headline Tacurong’s Business Week

Micro, small, and medium enterprises will be in for a treat as various technology transfer and skills training sessions will highlight the 12th Tacurong City Business Week Celebration on August 1 to 3, 2022.
In a meeting of committee members held at the Negosyo Center yesterday, July 11, activities were already finalized and will include trainings on product development; packaging and label development; and product branding and logo design.
Some targeted participants will also benefit from technology transfer on food processing, basket-making, and rags/potholders-making.
This year’s business week will also include forum on various topics: Business Registration & Licensing, as well as Labor Laws Updates.
Budding entrepreneurs will also get a chance to showcase their craft at the Producers and Young Entrepreneurs Fair for the duration of the three-day event, that also includes Diskwento Caravan.
Local Economic Development and Investment Promotions Office Technical Staff Emmanuel Nicolo said that the event will be a way to capacitate and showcase the city’s emerging small enterprises.
Sangguniang Panlungsod Committee on Trade and Industry Chairperson Harvey Legas and City Councilor Geraldine Collado, who were also present during the meeting, pledged their support to the annual event and committed to find more ways to add several other activities in the coming years.
“This year’s celebration will be an opportunity for us, new members of the Sanggunian, to be directly involved in the activities, and we promise to be your voice in the city council for whatever support that will be needed in the future”, Legas added.
This year’s celebration still carries the theme Sustaining Unlimited Livelihood Opportunities by Nestling the Growth of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises or SULONG Tacurong.
The Local Government Unit of Tacurong, the Department of Trade and Industry, and Sultan Kudarat SMED Council are spearheading this year’s Business Week in collaboration with the Department of Science and Technology, Department of Labor and Employment, Department of Information and Communication Technology, Department of Agriculture, Department of Social Welfare and Development, Technical Education and Skills Development Authority, Bureau of Internal Revenue, Food and Drug Administration, and Bureau of Jail Management and Penology.
