As a good way start to the week, LGU-Tacurong and the Department of Agrarian Reform – Italian Assistance to the Agrarian Reform Community Development Support Program (DAR-IARCDSP) officially turned over 7 newly completed infrastructure subprojects to the Agrarian Reform Communities (ARC) in Barangay Upper Katungal and Barangay Baras, Monday, October 25, 2021.

This array of constructions that commenced May 2021 is composed of a 21-million worth of farm-to-market road rehabilitation with slope protection, irrigation structure concretion, and a level II potable water system for Brgy. Baras.

Meanwhile, Brgy. Upper Katungal accepted 3 newly rehabilitated farm-to-market roads with slope protection in 2 areas and a level II potable water system all with a total funding of P23 million.

DAR-Italian and the LGU both contributed a counterpart funding to undertake these projects.

Gracing the ceremonial turnover and ribbon-cutting at the barangay hall compound of Upper Katungal were DAR Undersecretary Atty. Ranibai Delangalen, DAR XII Regional Director and DAR-Italian National Project Coordinator Engr. Marion Y. Abella, Director Ronald Gareza, City Mayor Lino O. Montilla, City Vice Mayor Lalaine J. Montilla, officials of the respective barangays, and representatives of the ARCs.

In his message, Mayor Lino articulated his gratitude to the stakeholders and reminded the beneficiaries to give importance to these provisions from the LGU and DAR-Italian. He also added that to assure further development in the barangays, particularly on the road works, the city government will procure 7 heavy equipment that will be exclusive for barangay utilization.

USec Delangalen and RD Abella echoed Mayor Lino’s sentiments on taking good care of the projects and also conveyed that if the ARCs need more assistance, DAR is willing to provide more aid.

The ARC representatives, Leonerico Oriel and Renaldo Travilla, also expressed their words of thanks as they will directly benefit from these structures especially from the potable water system. (DECostas, LGU-TacInformation)
