Tacurong City vet office organize Dogs Day 2017

As one of the activities of Talakudong Festival, the City Veterinary Services Office, headed by Dra. Hermenegilda S. Sanque, successfully organized the Tacurong Dogs Day 2017 on 9 September.

A total of 193 dogs and 107 dog owners joined the celebration which started with a dog funwalk at six o’clock in the morning.

At the opening program, everyone was joined by Rotarian Pscyhe Sucaldito and Canine Club Tacurong President Renante Mercado.

Also present were veterinarians from all over the region namely, Dr. Jennefer Bulawan, Dr. Shiela Mae de Jesus, Dr. Sheena Julabar, Dr. Jubienaur Moscoso, and Dr. Leah Macailing; they also acted as judges during the Dog Fashion Show and Fastest Eater competition, which was held after the program.

Gracing the occasion as a keynote speaker was Dog trainer and Behaviorist, Mr. Ronald “Aynad” Lumbao. He shared with the dog owners some techniques on how to walk and properly care for their pet dogs.

Aside from the fun dog competitions, the dogs were also able to avail of the free rabies vaccination, free deworming, free vitamins shots, and free castration. The city vet office also provided freebies including dog food and dog shampoos.

The 2017 Dogs Day was also an advance celebration of World Rabies Day on September 28, and was chaired by City Councilor Renante Duque. The sponsors included the Rotary Club, SMIT, Jargon Construction, Noel Farm, Conching Farm, SKTSI Agrivet, Belz Agrivet, Delgado Agrivet, Johnel Agrivet, Badet Agrivet, Obleada Gen. Experience Talakudong

Have you ever been to a headgear festival? If not, head to Tacurong City on September 18 for the Talakudong Festival 2017!

Watch the most colorful and intricately-adorned kudongs come to life during the Lumbayag sa Dalanon & Kiay-kiay sa Talakudong, one of the much-awaited street-dancing and field demonstration competitions in Region XII.

Tourists and locals look forward to this annual showdown of kudong exhibitions and cultural performances. The Travelteller even dubbed Talakudong Festival as the ‘most celebrated festival of hats’ in the Philippines.

The competition starts early in the morning and lasts until noon so make sure you also bring your own hat!

If you are a photography enthusiast, you may want to join the Igpat sang Kamera Photo Contest and get your photos showcased in the Talakudong Festival Photo Exhibit.

Days leading to September 18 will also be jam-packed with events such as Dugong Konsehal Blood-letting, Dogs’ Day, Talakudong Dance Sports Competition, National Enduro Bike Race, For Art Sake Kudong Decorating Contest, Mindanao-wide Hiphop Competition and Folk Dance Competition, Aero Marathon, and Gupit Mo Sagot ko. The annual surgical mission had also started on August 25 and will end on September 18.

Also, witness the parade of beauties during the pageants Queen Talakudong and Mutya ng Lungsod ng Tacurong.

Tacurong City will also host several activities that will serve as prelude to the 1st Budayaw: BIMP-EAGA Festival on Culture and Arts which will take place on September 20-24 in General Santos City and Sarangani Province. An exhibit dubbed Kudong: Headdresses of BIMP-EAGA will run from September 11-18 at the Tacurong Old Municipal Hall. Delegates from Brunei, Indonesia, Malaysia, and the Philippines will then compete in the Indak Kudong Dance Competition on September 18.
