LGU TACURONG, DA DISTRIBUTER FERTILIZER DISCOUNT VOUCHERS TO TACURONG REICE FARMERS
More than 500 rice farmers from five barangays in the City of Tacurong received fertilizer voucher discounts from the Department of Agriculture (DA) on August 5, 2022 at the Brgy. Baras Gymnasium.
The program was intended to help lessen the burden of our local farmers from high prices of rice fertilizer nowadays.
The said beneficiaries are from Barangay Baras, Rajah Muda, Upper Katungal, Lancheta, and New Passi.
The distribution was led by the Local Government Unit of Tacurong through the City Agricultural Service Office, with assistance from the Provincial Agriculture Office, and the Department of Agriculture Region XII.
Ms. Jonell Kris P. Jarrell delivered a warm message to our local rice farmers on behalf of our Provincial Agriculturist, Estela S. Hallegado.
Hon. Nestor Casador, Sangguniang Panlungsod (SP) Committee Chairperson on Agriculture, and City Administrator Ramon Losañes, who represented City Mayor Joseph George Lechonsito, were also present at the event. They assured our farmers that this was only a fraction of what was planned by the LGU and that even more plans and programs are being prepared for our local farmers.
Other SP members who attended were Hon. Ralen Tabusares-Bernardo, Hon. Carlos Borromeo Segura, Hon. Geraldine Collado, and Hon. Harvey Legas. Baras Punong Barangay Doroteo Delicana and Hernane Fermo, Executive Assistant for Barangay Affairs, were also in attendance.
Cristine Joy Abidong, representing Regional Rice Focal Person Ray Embajador, explained the said discount voucher as to how and where our local rice farmers can avail of it.
She explained that the discount will be based on the number of hectares declared by the farmer on the Registry System for the Basic Sectors in Agriculture (RSBSA).
To be an eligible beneficiary, you must be RPSBA-registered rice farmer and have received certified seeds from the DA.
Vouchers can be used at 4 different merchants in Tacurong: Rueland, Abigail Farm Supply, Green Gems, and M.Y. Consumer Goods.
The beneficiaries were grateful to have received this type of program because it will significantly reduce their expenses on their rice farming. (PJV, LGUTac-Info)
