Women in Tacurong showcased talent in Women’s Congress

This year’s National Women’s Month Celebration in Tacurong City culminated with a Women’s Congress on March 27 at the Tacurong City Cultural and Sports Center .

The event was participated by hundreds of women from both the private and public sectors of the community. Sector representatives joined in the song solo and pop dance competitions, which aimed to showcase the talents of women in the city.

Sheryll Donne Garcia of Sultan Kudarat Electric Cooperative, also a Tawag ng Tanghalan alum, was hailed champion of the song solo contest while the energetic ladies of Sultan Kudarat Water District bagged the first prize for the pop dance competition.

Grocery items and appliances were also raffled to the attendees.

Special guests for the event were City Councilors Lalaine Montilla and Psyche Sucaldito.

The National Women’s Month celebration in Tacurong City was orchestrated by the City of Tacurong Council for the Development of Women headed by its chairwoman, Mrs. Jocelyn Panizales.(YMR, LGUTac-Info)

Never too late to say ‘I do’: Senior couple get married in mass wedding

Rodrigo Salvoro waited until his senior year before finally deciding to get married.

At 60, Salvoro tied the knot with his long time live-in partner, Litecia Caspillo, who is just three years younger than him at 57.

The couple, who already have two adult sons, joined twenty other couples in the Kasalang-Bayan held in Barangay New Carmen in time with its 46th founding day on December 29.

Mayor Lina Montilla officiated the civil wedding that was facilitated by the barangay council and the Office of the City Civil Registry.

The newly-weds did not incur any expenses in the wedding and were even treated to a free lunch after the rites.

“Matagal na kaming nagpaplanong magpakasal subalit ang gastusin ang pangunahing hadlang para matuloy ito”, Salvoro said.

City officials who came and served as sponsors included Councilors Charito Collado, David Salazar and Welson Ferrer.

Liga ng mga Barangay President Amoilo Ortizo and other punong barangays were also present to show their support.

City government welcomed young city officials

In line with the celebration of the 26th National Children’s Month, the city government played host to senior and junior high school students as they assumed the roles of young city officials and young heads of offices of the LGU.

For a period of two days, on November 27 -28, 2018, the students observed their counterparts as the latter performed their official duties. The opportunity aims to expose the students early on to the inner workings of running the city government thereby inculcating in them human relations, self-confidence, and self-discipline.

This year’s Young City Mayor was Chico D. Reyes of TNHS-Main Campus, Young City Vice Mayor was Jessriel Franch Ariz of VMC Asial School, and Young City Accountant was Ian Vincent Ramay of TNHS-Annex among others.
