3 young entreps score business starter kits from LGU-Tacurong

Three young local entrepreneurs forging their way to making a name for their chosen ventures just had more resources at their disposal as the City Government of Tacurong dispersed business starter kits to them Monday, January 24, 2022, at the City Hall Building ground floor.
Each representing a distinct industry from one another, the 3 youth entrepreneurs acquired various sets of kits – Earl S. Bepitel Jr. of Fashion Design and Dressmaking received sewing and edging machines, a mannequin, and other tailoring tools; John Rey B. Sazon of Beauty Salon for Men & Women accepted several make-up and parlor tools; and Niño B. Narciso of Welding, Steel Works & Metal Fabrication obtained several ironwork machines and equipment.
This awarding of starter kits was entailed by the 11th Tacurong Business Week last July 2021. Due to the setbacks brought by the pandemic, the processing and release of the kits were delayed. This is also the first time the LGU has procured these kinds of apparatus for the starter kits.
Further, from the 6 primarily identified beneficiaries, only 3 have passed the final evaluation.
This undertaking of LGU-Tacurong – under its “Sustaining Unlimited Livelihood Opportunities by Nurturing the Growth of the MSMEs of Tacurong” or SULONG initiative – is in partnership with the Department of Trade and Industry -Sultan Kudarat Field Office, Sultan Kudarat SMED Council, and Small Business Corporation.
Via Zoom, City Mayor Lino O. Montilla congratulated and conveyed his anticipation of the recipients’ success as they continue their endeavors with these provisions from the city government. Tacurong City celebrates 4 festivals in one

It’s a multiple celebration for the City of Tacurong as it celebrates four festivals in one.

On 30 July 2018, City Mayor Lina O. Montilla led the opening of Tacurong Day (67th Founding Anniversary of Tacurong), 18th Barangay Day, 9th Sulong Tacurong Business Week, and Barangay Farmers & Entrepreneurs Festival 2018.

This year’s foundation anniversary and Barangay Day has a theme “Iselebrar ang Tacurongnon nga Kinaiya, Maghugpong kag Maghiliusa”.

Meanwhile, the 9th Sulong Tacurong – Business Week and Barangay Farmers & Entrepreneurs Festival 2018 has a theme “Enhancing MSME’s Competitiveness through Innovation and Technology”.

The opening program was held at the Tacurong City Cultural and Sports Center and was attended by the members of the Sangguniang Panlungsod, the different Punong Barangays and other barangay officials of the city, Sangguniang Kabataan officers, representatives from the different government offices, the business sector including the Filipino-Chinese Chamber of Commerce and Sultan Kudarat Chamber of Commerce and Industry Foundation, Inc., the academe, civil society organizations, the employees and heads of offices of the LGU, the PNP, BFP, BJMP, RMFB 12, and JTF Talakudong.

Aligned with the entrepreneurial theme of the festivities, resource speaker for the event was successful agri-entrepreneur Ms. Edna Feliprada, owner of South Valley food products. In her testimony, she encouraged the micro, small, and medium entrepreneurs of the city to not give up and keep on working on their products, and to not be afraid of seeking government assistance in improving production.

In closing, Montilla led the banging of the ceremonial gong to mark the start of the festivities and the official opening of the barangay booths located inside the city gym.

Tacurong City celebrates Tacurong Day, Barangay Farmers & Entrepreneurs Festival 2017, and 8th SULONG Tacurong Business Week

The City of Tacurong simultaneously celebrated the Barangay Farmers & Entrepreneurs Festival 2017 and the 8th SULONG Tacurong Business Week, which ran from July 31 to August 3, 2017, and the 66th Tacurong Day on August 3.

On July 31st, the festivities opened with a motorcade participated by the city officials and LGU employees, Tacurong PNP, JTF Talakudong, BMEG, TESDA Sultan Kudarat, DTI Sultan Kudarat, SSS Sultan Kudarat, and the different barangay officials.

The Barangay Farmers & Entrepreneurs Festival 2017 showcased the best agricultural and commercial products of each barangay in a bahay kubo competition. Barangay Griño won first place during the awarding ceremony on August 3.

The 8th SULONG Tacurong Business Week partnered with the DTI and organized forums and seminars on investment, food business, soap making, and perfume making.

An SK Producers Fair also showcased the innovative products of micro, small and medium entrepreneurs all over the province while the Young Entrepeneurs Fair boasted the inventive food products of senior students from the different colleges of the city including SKSU, NDTC, and St. Albert College.

On August 2, the Public Employment Service Office of the city government also conducted a job fair that attracted 190 jobseekers; 31 of those were hired on the spot.

August 3 was the 66th foundation anniversary of Tacurong, or also popularly known as Tacurong Day. As per tradition, Tacurong Day was celebrated with a program cum awarding ceremony of the top tax payers in the city and the best performers during the barangay festival and business week.

Among the top 20 recognized Outstanding Business Tax Payers, Tacurong Fit Mart ranked no. 1; for the most Real Property Tax collected among the 20 barangays, Barangay New Carmen topped the ranks; and, for the Most Outstanding Individual on Real Property Tax payment, Ms. Eleonor Abalos of Brgy. Buenaflor came in first place.

The Tacurong Tourism Awards 2016 also recognized the Tourism Oriented Establishments and Tourism Related Establishments in the city, which are considered as key players in the growth of the tourism industry in Tacurong. These establishments include Woodland Tourist Inn, Monte Vicenteau Resort, Felra Suits, and Edjin Pension House among others.

MASA MASID’s TaTaPP program also awarded 8 drug surrenderers who have completed their six months holistic rehabilitation program. Mayor Montilla, DILG’s Alberto Sero, Jr., Rev. Fr. Zaldy Robles, and PSUPT Ranie Hachuela conferred the completion certificates to the graduates.

In her message, Mayor Montilla reminded the Tacurongnons of how far Tacurong has come since its founding 66 years ago. Through good governance and team work between city officials and the constituents, Tacurong remained steadfast and consistent in its development despite the various security and economic threats it had endured through the years. And to top off her message, the mayor enthusiastically shared the new big businesses that will open in the city this year and the next, which include the biggest Citi Hardware in Mindanao, Primark Department Store, Savemore, and Chowking Tacurong among others.

Lastly, as Talakudong season tails after the Tacurong Day celebrations, Mayor Montilla led the opening salvo by declaring the Talakudong Festival 2017 open.
