PSA launches Fixed Nat’l ID Registration Center in Tacurong

To firm up the support and harbor more registrants for the Philippine or National Identification System (PhilSys), the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) turned over to Sultan Kudarat (SK) Province a fully-furnished Fixed Registration Center situated in Doña Aurora St., Brgy. Poblacion, Tacurong City.

The PhilSys enrollment site houses 5 glass-enclosed booths with equipment readily programmed to capture biometrics and information for PhilSys. It can also cater a minimum of 45 transactions each day considering the tedious process of each registration.

PSA Undersecretary Claire Dennis S. Mapa, Ph. D personally led the ribbon cutting to the ceremonial launching of the registration center on Wednesday, June 23, 2021. The event, dubbed with the slogan #IDNatin, was also graced by the representatives of Sultan Kudarat Governor Suharto “Teng” Mangudadatu, Ph. D and Tacurong City Mayor Lino O. Montilla.

USec Mapa discussed how their agency relentlessly performed for the past three years to bring the National ID System at the forefront of the country’s development. He also exuberantly conveyed that as of June 20, 2021, the PSA has recorded 37 Million Step 1 registrants and 14 Million Step 2 registrants for the PhilSys.

Moreover, Executive Assistant to Mayor Montilla, Rogelio Garcia, recalled his personal accounts of when he was in Qatar and of how beneficial the National ID System is to that country. He also expressed his excitement over what the PhilSys has in store for the Philippines and even for the City of Goodwill. He also took pride on how receptive and cooperative of the PhilSys the people of Tacurong are.

Witnessing the program in flesh were PSA RSSO-XII Regional Director Atty. Maqtahar L. Manulon, PSA RSSO-BARMM OIC-Regional Director Engr. Naser S. Usman, SK Province Chief Statistical Specialist Herlita G. Caraan, President Quirino OIC-Mayor Ma. Katrina Sandigan, and Representative to Governor, Alfonso Dimasuay. Meanwhile, the heads of the Local Registry Offices from the province joined virtually through Google Meet.

With a more accessible registration center on erect in the city, more individuals can walk in and have themselves listed for PhilSys.

However, due to the current General Community Quarantine classification of the province, registration has been stalled until further notice. (DEC, LGU-TacInformation)
