Pinasinayaan nitong Martes, Setyembre 7, 2021, nina Alkalde Lino O. Montilla at Bise Alklade Hon.

LGU completes wheelchair distribution to PWDs

The distribution of wheelchairs to fifty (50) more Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) in the city for this year has been completed as the Local Government Unit (LGU) of Tacurong delivered the last eight (8) wheelchairs and food packs to the last batch of beneficiaries yesterday, December 22, 2020.

Through the City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO), the 50 recipients were identified from the list of the most in need PWDs from the twenty barangays of Tacurong.

The last two recipients of wheelchairs yesterday were both stroke patients, Marites Galoso and Bienvinido Cataluña of Brgy. Calean. City Mayor Angelo O. Montilla extended additional support in the form of scholarships to the children of Galoso and Cataluña.

City Mayor Angelo O. Montilla and City First Lady Cora Montilla were there on the very first up to the last day of wheelchair distributions together with the staff of the LGU. They were dedicated to reach each barangay of Tacurong that they personally delivered the wheelchairs to their new owners.

The LGU has made the distribution of the wheelchairs and food packs possible in just four dates – November 27 and December 15,16, and 22 – this 2020 despite the hectic schedule of the city government.

Though this year is closing with the LGU having distributed 50 wheelchairs, the PWDs in the city can surely look forward to more projects and assistance for them next year under the administration of Mayor Montilla. (DEC, LGUTac-Info)

LGU-Tacurong goes full on with wheelchair distribution for PWDs

The Local Government Unit (LGU) of Tacurong has amplified its assistance towards Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) with a two – day wheelchair and food pack distribution on December 15-16, 2020.

Spearheaded by City Mayor Angelo O. Montilla and City First Lady Cora Montilla, the LGU delivered thirty (30) wheelchairs and food packs right on the front doors of identified PWDs from nine (9) barangays — New Lagao, Buenaflor, EJC Montilla, New Isabela, Griño, San Rafael, Tina, San Emmanuel and San Pablo.

Along with the wheelchairs and food packs, some recipients were also subjected for further support due to their tragic situations.

For instance, following Mayor Montilla’s instruction, 22-year-old Jeron Jurilla of Brgy. Griño will be scheduled by the City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO) to a Physical Therapy for his involuntary stiffness and spasms due to Cerebral Palsy.

On the other hand, 61-year-old Lucia Delmo, a stroke patient, has been bedridden for one (1) year on a bed placed near a pigpen inside their half-roofed house. Seeing this, Mayor Montilla tapped New Isabela’s Punong Barangay, Hon. Juaren Javier, to provide roofing and other housing materials for Lucia’s family. He also promised them a sack of rice to aid their daily needs.

Likewise, Mayor Montilla also pledged a sack of rice to 63-year-old Joeffrey Ferje of Brgy. San Pablo who is enduring a Parkinson’s disease for ten (10) years now. A brand-new electric fan will also be given to him to ease his difficulty of breathing and replace his old, frameless fan.

So far, the LGU has reached forty-two (42) out of the fifty (50) identified PWDs including the twelve (12) who previously received their wheelchairs and food packs last November 27, 2020.

These are only some of the LGU-assisted programs in the city for PWDs initiated by Mayor Montilla. Next year, a larger number of PWDs will be catered and served especially for their medication needs because the LGU anticipates the completion of the People’s Dialysis Center in Tacurong.
