Pfizer vaccine now available in Tacurong

Pfizer jabs are now available in Tacurong as 780 vials of this much-anticipated vaccine, branded as “COMIRNATY”, have finally been delivered in the city from the Department of Health (DOH), Thursday, September 2, 2021.

Entailing its arrival in the city is the recent procurement of 2 sub-zero freezers by the Local Government Unit (LGU) of Tacurong that will be utilized as a repository for temperature-sensitive vaccines.

City Mayor Lino O. Montilla prioritized the purchase of the said freezers to meet the condition the DOH has specified for Pfizer vaccines that require -90 to -60 degree Celsius of storage temperature.

Mayor Lino’s move to acquire these aforementioned repositories is also for Tacurong to start receiving allotment of in-demand anti-COVID-19 shots such as Pfizer and Moderna.

For this batch of Pfizer vaccine, the remaining A1-A3 Priority Groups in the city will be administered with their 1st and 2nd dose. As each vial can serve 6 doses, the City Vaccination Team projects 2,340 individuals to be fully-vaccinated with COMIRNATY on this current shipment.

COMIRNATY has 28 days of shelf life inside the Bio-refrigerator once thawed from the sub-zero freezers. Its thawing process takes up to 3 hours in room temperature or 2 hours inside the Ice-lined Refrigerator.

These vaccines were shipped from the DOH-Central Office in Luzon and were directly transported to the city from Cotabato Airport by the representatives and Regional Immunization Manager Dr. Edvir Jane S. Montañer of DOH-Region 12.

Additionally, Dr. Mercedes Manansala, DOH-Sultan Kudarat Representative, facilitated the acquisition of these vaccines. Meanwhile, Dr. Emmelyn Buenacosa-Nepucpan, City Vaccination Team-Head, monitored the dispatch of the supplies in the vaccination site.

This makes Tacurong the first LGU in Sultan Kudarat Province to receive Pfizer-manufactured inoculations. (DECostas, LGU-TacInformation)
