Local Civil Registry Office of Tacurong holds information drive on marriage solemnization

The Office of the Local Civil Registry (LCR) of LGU-Tacurong, headed by City Civil Registrar Josephine Balino, held its annual information drive on civil registry. This year, the spotlight is on marriage solemnization.

Eleven different solemnizing officers from the different denominations and churches of Tacurong City attended the information drive on February 23, 2016 at the CDRMMC building of Tacurong City Hall. Special guests were Ms. Herlita G. Caraan, OIC-Provincial Statistician Officer of Sultan Kudarat, and Ms. Jurilyn P. Abraham, Provincial Statistician II.

City Mayor Lina O. Montilla, a solemnizing officer herself, was in attendance. In her message, she emphasized the the gravity of the obligations of solemnizing officers in upholding the civil law and legally bringing two people together. As such, like the rest of the church leaders present, she made it a point to attend the information drive.

The guest speaker of the event was national awardee, Ms. Rosita Lebres, municipal civil registrar of Esperanza, Sultan Kudarat. She tackled the civil laws applicable to a valid marriage such as Commonwealth Act 3753 or the Law on Registry of Civil Status, the roles and obligations of a solemnizing officer, and the importance of a valid authority to marry among others.

The information drive of the LCR is in celebration of the Civil Registry Month with the theme, “Makiisa..Makisali sa Dekadang CRVS (Civil Registration and Vital Statistics)”. (Yen Robles, Tacurong-LGU)
