Rodrigo Salvoro waited until his senior year before finally deciding to get married.
At 60, Salvoro tied the knot with his long time live-in partner, Litecia Caspillo, who is just three years younger than him at 57.
The couple, who already have two adult sons, joined twenty other couples in the Kasalang-Bayan held in Barangay New Carmen in time with its 46th founding day on December 29.
Mayor Lina Montilla officiated the civil wedding that was facilitated by the barangay council and the Office of the City Civil Registry.
The newly-weds did not incur any expenses in the wedding and were even treated to a free lunch after the rites.
“Matagal na kaming nagpaplanong magpakasal subalit ang gastusin ang pangunahing hadlang para matuloy ito”, Salvoro said.
City officials who came and served as sponsors included Councilors Charito Collado, David Salazar and Welson Ferrer.
Liga ng mga Barangay President Amoilo Ortizo and other punong barangays were also present to show their support.

The City Government of Tacurong sponsored 20 couples to a church wedding dubbed “Kasalang Bayan sa Pasko 2017” on December 21, 2017 at Nuestra Sra. Dela Candelaria Parish.
The Local Civil Registry (LCR) headed by Mrs. Josephine Balino organized the event.
The selection of the couples was done on a ‘first come, first serve’ basis. They only had to personally apply at the LCR to fill the 20 limited slots.
The city government shouldered the application fees, Pre-Cana seminar, and CENOMAR while the couples personally paid their marriage license fees and POPCOM seminar.
At the end of the wedding ceremony, the LCR provided each of the couples with a wedding cake, packed meals, a framed photo of the couple, and souvenir items for their principal sponsors.
The members of the 7th Sangguniang Panlungsod namely Hon. Psyche Sucaldito, Hon. Lalaine Montilla, Hon. Geronimo Arzagon, Hon. Welson Ferrer, Hon. Renante Duque, Hon. Carlos Segura, and Hon. Hernane Fermo as well as the different heads of offices of LGU Tacurong were present to stand as principal sponsors.
Rochelle Abrio, one of the brides who married Renante Belngan held Balino’s hands and with grateful tears said, “Madamo gid nga salamat, ma’am. Kung hindi dahil sa inyo, sa 11 ka tuig hindi gid ini matabo.”
