LGU, DAR-Italian wrap up 7 infra subprojects in Upper Katungal, Baras

As a good way start to the week, LGU-Tacurong and the Department of Agrarian Reform – Italian Assistance to the Agrarian Reform Community Development Support Program (DAR-IARCDSP) officially turned over 7 newly completed infrastructure subprojects to the Agrarian Reform Communities (ARC) in Barangay Upper Katungal and Barangay Baras, Monday, October 25, 2021.

This array of constructions that commenced May 2021 is composed of a 21-million worth of farm-to-market road rehabilitation with slope protection, irrigation structure concretion, and a level II potable water system for Brgy. Baras.


Meanwhile, Brgy. Upper Katungal accepted 3 newly rehabilitated farm-to-market roads with slope protection in 2 areas and a level II potable water system all with a total funding of P23 million.


DAR-Italian and the LGU both contributed a counterpart funding to undertake these projects.


Gracing the ceremonial turnover and ribbon-cutting at the barangay hall compound of Upper Katungal were DAR Undersecretary Atty. Ranibai Delangalen, DAR XII Regional Director and DAR-Italian National Project Coordinator Engr. Marion Y. Abella, Director Ronald Gareza, City Mayor Lino O. Montilla, City Vice Mayor Lalaine J. Montilla, officials of the respective barangays, and representatives of the ARCs.


In his message, Mayor Lino articulated his gratitude to the stakeholders and reminded the beneficiaries to give importance to these provisions from the LGU and DAR-Italian. He also added that to assure further development in the barangays, particularly on the road works, the city government will procure 7 heavy equipment that will be exclusive for barangay utilization.

USec Delangalen and RD Abella echoed Mayor Lino’s sentiments on taking good care of the projects and also conveyed that if the ARCs need more assistance, DAR is willing to provide more aid.


The ARC representatives, Leonerico Oriel and Renaldo Travilla, also expressed their words of thanks as they will directly benefit from these structures especially from the potable water system. (DECostas, LGU-TacInformation)

DAR-Italian, LGU cut ribbons of infra projects in Baras, Upper Katungal

Farm-to-market roads in Brgy. Baras and Brgy. Upper Katungal are soon safer and smoother to traverse as the Department of Agrarian Reform – Italian Assistance to the Agrarian Reform Community Development Support Program (DAR-IARCDSP) and the Local Government Unit (LGU) of Tacurong cut ribbons and broke ground of 7 new infrastructure projects in these areas, May 18, 2021.

With P21-million worth of DAR-Italian and LGU allocation, Brgy. Baras is set to have its farm-to-market road rehabilitated with slope protection, its irrigation structures concreted, and a level II potable water system be constructed within the area.

Meanwhile, 3 farm-to-market road rehabilitations – 2 with slope protection and 1 without – and a level II potable water system construction all with a total budget of P23 million are to be realized on various identified sites starting this May in Brgy. Upper Katungal.

DAR Assistant Regional Director Roldan Ali, Alhaj in his message gave props to the patience of the beneficiaries in waiting for these projects.

Further, City Mayor Angelo O. Montilla, through his Executive Secretary Rogelio Garcia, conveyed his profuse gratitude to the land donors and the various agencies that teamed up to materialize these structures.

Words of encouragement and thanks were also stressed by City Vice Mayor Lino O. Montilla.

Moreover, gratitude from the beneficiaries and Punong Barangays of Brgy. Upper Katungal and Brgy. Baras overflowed to DAR-Italian and the LGU.

These ceremonial groundbreakings were also taken part by Municipal Agrarian Reform Officer Jacinta Fabale; CARPO Rea Marie Betque and Engr. Aiza Dima of the Provincial Agrarian Reform Office; Engr. Charisma Valdes of the Regional Agrarian Reform Office; and Ma. Levele Muyco, Rolan Jomalon, and Serge Campana of DAR-IARCDSP.
