DAR-Italian, LGU cut ribbons of infra projects in Baras, Upper Katungal

Farm-to-market roads in Brgy. Baras and Brgy. Upper Katungal are soon safer and smoother to traverse as the Department of Agrarian Reform – Italian Assistance to the Agrarian Reform Community Development Support Program (DAR-IARCDSP) and the Local Government Unit (LGU) of Tacurong cut ribbons and broke ground of 7 new infrastructure projects in these areas, May 18, 2021.

With P21-million worth of DAR-Italian and LGU allocation, Brgy. Baras is set to have its farm-to-market road rehabilitated with slope protection, its irrigation structures concreted, and a level II potable water system be constructed within the area.

Meanwhile, 3 farm-to-market road rehabilitations – 2 with slope protection and 1 without – and a level II potable water system construction all with a total budget of P23 million are to be realized on various identified sites starting this May in Brgy. Upper Katungal.

DAR Assistant Regional Director Roldan Ali, Alhaj in his message gave props to the patience of the beneficiaries in waiting for these projects.

Further, City Mayor Angelo O. Montilla, through his Executive Secretary Rogelio Garcia, conveyed his profuse gratitude to the land donors and the various agencies that teamed up to materialize these structures.

Words of encouragement and thanks were also stressed by City Vice Mayor Lino O. Montilla.

Moreover, gratitude from the beneficiaries and Punong Barangays of Brgy. Upper Katungal and Brgy. Baras overflowed to DAR-Italian and the LGU.

These ceremonial groundbreakings were also taken part by Municipal Agrarian Reform Officer Jacinta Fabale; CARPO Rea Marie Betque and Engr. Aiza Dima of the Provincial Agrarian Reform Office; Engr. Charisma Valdes of the Regional Agrarian Reform Office; and Ma. Levele Muyco, Rolan Jomalon, and Serge Campana of DAR-IARCDSP.

P11M farm-to-market road project to Tacurong

DAR, Italian government turned over P11M farm-to-market road project to Tacurong More farmers will be enjoying market accessibility with the completion of another concreted farm-to-market road project in Barangay Baras, Tacurong City.

A ribbon-cutting ceremony for the opening of the half-kilometer FMR project was done at the project site and followed by a turnover program at the barangay hall on June 18. Present during the ribbon-cutting and turnover rites were City Administrator Roberto Ayco who represented Mayor Lina Montilla, Foreign-Assisted and Special Projects Office Representative Cristy Dagdag, Italian Agrarian Reform Community Development Support Officer Nelson Faustino, OIC Provincial Agrarian Reform Officer Pabil Marohomsalic, Municipal Agrarian Reform Officer
Jacinta Fabale, Baras Chairman Doroteo Delicana, and City Engineer Catherine Leguro. The project, which connects Puroks Daisy and Rose, has a total project cost of P11.8 Million.

Half of the total project cost or P5.9 Million was funded by the Italian government through the Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR), while the other half came from the LGU coffer that served as a funding counterpart. City Administrator Ayco extended his gratitude to the Italian government and DAR for the string of projects they extended to Tacurong City’s Agrarian Reform Communities (ARC). “Our city is very fortunate to be recipients of these various projects that will greatly help our constituents”, he said.

Aside from farmers, among the beneficiaries of the latest FMR project are students and teachers of AS Bernardo national High School since the concrete road passes through the said school. Engineer Leguro said that the latest project turned over in Baras is just one of the numerous projects given to Tacurong by the Italian government under the Italian Assistance to Agrarian Reform Community Development Support Program or IARCDSP through the DAR. Aside from Baras, Barangay Upper Katungal is the other beneficiary of the DAR-Italian projects being one of the only two barangays in Tacurong identified as ARCs. Aside from FMR projects, other DAR-Italian-funded projects in Baras and Upper Katungal are water supply systems, solar dryers, multi-purpose halls, and irrigation canals. The Italian government has already funneled a total of P56 Million for various projects in Baras and Upper Katungal.

DAR-Italian projects turned over to LGU Tacurong

The Italian government, through the Department of Agrarian Reform, turned over six infrastructure projects to the City Government of Tacurong on March 19, 2019 in a turn over ceremony at Barangay Baras Cultural and Sports Center. The projects were constructed in Barangay Baras and Upper Katungal.

In Baras, the projects were composed of a multi-purpose building worth Php 500,000, a potable water system level 1, which costs Php1 million, and solar driers in Purok Bernardo and Purok Bougainvilla, which cost Php1 million each.

In Upper Katungal, the projects include a solar drier in Purok Silangan worth Php1 million and a potable water system level 1 worth Php1.5 million.

City Mayor Lina O. Montilla personally accepted the projects from Engr. Anuar Acop of DAR-IARCDSP and Mr. Rodolfo Alburo of the Provincial Agrarian Reform Office.

Undersecretary Bernie F. Cruz of DAR – Foreign Assisted and Special Projects Office was present to personally support the event. Punong Barangay Doroteo Delicana of Brgy. Baras and Punong Barangay Joey Columbres of Brgy. Upper Katungal, together with their barangay officials, were also present.

Other concreting projects are still ongoing in the two barangays. All the projects, both completed and ongoing, cost a total of Php 56, 415, 800.(YMR, LGUTac-Info)

Tacurong City – Italy partners for infra projects in Baras

LGU Tacurong and the Italian Government through the Department of Agrarian Reform have partnered once again for rural development projects, this time with Barangay Baras as the beneficiary.
The first in a string of projects is the construction of a 0.510 km farm-to-market-road from Purok Daisy to Purok Rose.
On December 13, 2018, a groundbreaking ceremony was held in AS Bernardo National High School for the purpose. City Mayor Lina O. Montilla led the ceremony; she was accompanied by City Engineer Catherine Leguro.
Present to support the event were Punong Barangay Doroteo Delicana and other barangay officials, Engr. Anuar P. Acop of DAR Region XII, Rhea Marie Betque of Provincial Agrarian Reform Office, and Mr. Freddie Delantar, ASBNHS Principal among others.
The farm to market road costs Php11 million, Php6 million of which was grant from the Italian Government while Php4 million was LGU counterpart.
Aside from the road concreting project, Barangay Baras will also receive fifteen (15) units of Potable Water System Level 1 worth Php2 million, solar drier worth Php2 million, and a multi-purpose building worth Php500k.
