The DILG Tacurong office conducted the Civil Society Orgnization (CSO) Assembly 2015 on October 23, 2015 at the CDRRMC building. This was in line with the formulation of the Local Poverty Reduction Plan (LPRP), wherein the resulting proposed projects will be funded under the Bottom Up Budgeting (BUB) program.
The assembly gathered over 40 participants, each representing accredited civil society organizations in Tacurong City including the Rotary Club, 4Ps, ROTARACT Club, Talakudong Metal Craft, SMB SKA 2, TFPTA, City Agriculture and Fishery Council, Tacurong Balot Vendors Association, Tacurong Habitat for Humanity, TFTDO, Tacurong Massage Clinic Association, United Way of Sultan Kudarat, NDEA, TAMAVA, GSP-SK, PAGLAUM Project, Samahan ng mga Biyuda, Parish Supreme Pastoral Council, Federation of Senior Citizen Association Tacurong City, and many others.
During the program, Ms. Mary Vi Castillio, BUB Community Mobilizer from DILG XII, provided the Orientation on Local Governance and Bottom Up Budgeting where she presented and explained the implementing rules and regulations of the BUB program.
An election of officers for the Local Poverty Reduction Team (LPRAT) followed suit. It produced 17 representatives from the different CSOs in attendance.
Other presentations during the assembly included the reporting on the status of implementation of 2013 – 2015 BUB projects, presentation/validation of poverty data/indicators, poverty analysis workshop, the corresponding output of the said workshop, and finalization of poverty analysis and identification of priority projects.
The assembly, where participating CSOs were taught how to identify poverty indicators and formulate possible strategies and programs for the reduction thereof, is a pre-requisite for the formation and approval of the LPRP under the BUB.(Yen Robles, LGU-Tacurong)
