LGU-Tacurong employees plant trees for Civil Service Anniversary

In line with the 116th Philippine Civil Service Anniversary celebration, employees of the City Government of Tacurong and personnel from the Tacurong PNP, JTF Talakudong, and RPSB 12 joined the tree planting activity in Barangay Upper Katungal on September 23.

After tree planting, the participants visited the Material Recovery Facility (MRF) and Sanitary Landfill of the city, located in the same barangay, to observe the process of waste segregation and composting. An orientation was also given at the nearby Nursery and Demo Farm where employees learned that the compost produced from the MRF is used to grow flowering and ornamental cuttings, tree seedlings, and vegetables.

The cuttings are provided for free to schools for beautification projects, and the seedlings are available for tree planting activities of other entities in the city. The harvested vegetables are sold at the market, which revenue redound to the maintenance of the facility.

The tree planting activity was organized by the City Human Resource Management Office, headed by Mrs. Nenita G. Albito, as one of the activities prepared for the month-long celebration of the Civil Service Anniversary. (Yen Robles, LGU-Tacurong Information)
