Tacurong cited as one of country’s top performers in anti-drug war

Heeding President Duterte’s call to support the war against illegal drugs by strengthening its Anti-Drug Abuse Council, Tacurong City proved its efforts are on the right track after being cited as one of the country’s top performers in the fight against drug menace.

Tacurong City received an 18X24-inch glass marker in recognition of its having a Highly Functional Anti-Drug Abuse Council during the 2018 National Anti-Drug Abuse Council Performance Award held today at The Manila Hotel in Manila.

The award is given to LGUs that showed exemplary efforts through their respective ADACs in complementing the national government’s initiatives in eradicating the country’s illegal drug problem.

Mayor Lina Montilla, who sits as the City ADAC Chairperson received the award together with two CADAC members, City Local Government Operations Officer Alberto Sero Jr. and Tacurong Chief of Police Supt. Joefel Siason.

Tacurong is one of the only 241 out of more than 1700 LGUs in the country to receive the award. LGUs with numerical score of 85-100 points qualified to receive the award and to be touted as having highly functional ADACs.

Moreover, a special awarding was held for 21 LGUs that got a perfect score of 100 points that included Tacurong. With its perfect score, the city received a cash incentive worth P250,000.00

Top performing-LGUs were subjected to Performance Audit covering year 2017 by the DILG-ADAC Project Management Office by gathering data on ADAC functionality and effectiveness as stipulated in DILG- Dangerous Drugs Board Circular No. 2018-01.

In his message, DILG Secretary Eduardo Año congratulated the 241 LGUs that showed dedication and exemplary effort to support the national government’s anti-drug drive.

“My special salutation goes to the 21 LGUs that garnered perfect rating of 100 points”, Año said. “Truly, you personified the essence of good governance and outstanding leadership”. (A. Freno, LGU Information)

Tacurong City Peace & Order Council and Anti-Drug Abuse Council hold joint meeting

The City Peace and Order Council (CPOC) and the City Anti-Drug Abuse Council held a joint meeting on August 26, 2016, at the CDRRMC building.

Presided by City Mayor Lina O. Montilla, who also serves as chairwoman of both councils, the meeting was attended by the council members and stakeholders including the different LGU offices, the Sangguniang Panlungsod, barangay captains and officials, civil society organizations, Fil-Chinese Chamber of Commerce, Tacurong City PNP, BFP, BJMP, JTF Talakudong, and PDEA among others.

The business of the day included the current peace & order situation of the city, which was reported to be peaceful, and public safety updates by the Tacurong PNP. The BFP, BJMP, JTF Talakudong and 601st Brigade, and the PDEA also reported on each of their organization’s accomplishments in the last quarter.

The Tacurong PNP also updated the council on their on-going anti-drug campaign through Project Double Barrel, which includes Project Tokhang and Project HVT/LVT, and their Barangay Drug Clearing Operation. With a 261 baseline, the Tacurong PNP has so far accomplished 60.54% as of July 2016.

The PNP also discussed updates on their traffic management plan. A total of Php576,500 were collected from traffic violations from January 2016 to June 2016. (Yen Robles, LGU-Tacurong Information)
