PESO joins Tacurong schools in career guidance week kickoff

The Local Government Unit of Tacurong City, through its Public Employment Service Office, joined various schools in the city in the kickoff of Career Guidance Week through conduct of lectures on labor market trends.

The week-long activity came on the heels of a division memorandum invoking DepEd Order No. 25, series of 2013 which mandates all secondary schools to hold Career Guidance Week every last week of July. On the morning of July 25, Allan Freno, PESO Manager of LGU Tacurong, had a talk in front of more than 500 senior high school students of Southern Mindanao Institute of Technology. His topic covered labor market situationer that included presentation of data on labor force, employment, and underemployment.

He also made a lengthy discussion about key employment generators in various industries including the in-demand and hard-to-fill occupations using the DOLE Jobs Fit 2022 as reference. After his talk at SMIT, Freno proceeded to Tacurong National High School in the afternoon for another round of lecture to more than 800 Grade 10 and Grade 12 students. (LGU Information)
