Tacurong City showed solidarity on Independence Day

Amidst the rule of Martial Law to thwart the ongoing security crisis, the people of Tacurong gathered on June 12 to strengthen their solidarity by celebrating the country’s 119th Independence Day.

Despite the wet and gloomy morning, the city officials and hundreds of representatives from the national government agencies, government-owned and -controlled corporations, educational institutions, non-government organizations, business sector, civil society organizations, the PNP, Philippine Army, and the local government gathered at the Tacurong City Hall grounds to witness the wreath laying ceremony at the Jose Rizal monument and to attend the flag raising ceremony.

Further, the event was graced with entertainment by Mindanao’s Demure Diva Ms. Demie Jan Flor B. Fresco, student Yumi Fresco from St. John Early Learning Center, Inc., and the Sultan Kudarat Water District employees.

True to this year’s Independence Day theme, “Kalayaan 2017: Pagbabagong Sama-samang Balikatin”, the guest speaker of the event, biographer and blogger Mr. Apolinario Villalobos, emphasized in his message, “Hindi tayo dapat mangamba o matakot sa anumang banta na pilit nagpapadiskaril ng direksyon na tinatahak ng lunsod. Ang bantang yan ay dapat pang magpaigting ng ating magandang samahan.” (YRobles, LGU-Tacurong Information)
