Potential youth literary artists in the city competed in Dungog: a Spoken Word Poetry Contest, a first of its kind literary competition held in celebration of the 67th Tacurong Foundation Anniversary, on 1 August 2018 at the Tacurong City Cultural and Sports Center.

Ten (10) contestants, each representing their respective barangays, performed their poetry pieces with a theme related to the foundation anniversary of Tacurong such as our past, who we are, and where we are heading as Tacurongnons, and/or the significance of the celebration.

Present to support the literary competition were Hon. Ma. Rhodora P. Pauya, Punong Barangay of Rajah Muda, and Hon. Rodolfo O. Jacob, Punong Barangay of San Pablo, and committee vice chairwoman, Ms. Emelie Jamorabon, City Toursim Officer.

Judges for the event were accomplished writers and editors Mr. Jude Ortega, Mr. Gerald Galindez, and Mr. Nikko Clar.

First place winner was Mary Cris Huquire of Brgy. Lancheta; second place, Rhelyn May Obeja of Brgy. Rajah Muda, and third place, Freddierick James Soriano of Brgy. New Carmen. The winners took home Php 5, 000.00, Php 3,000.00 and Php 1, 500.00, respectively.(YMR, LGUTac-Info)
