Strong leadership that resulted in better health outcomes for the poor paved way for the Local Government Unit of Tacurong City to receive various awards during the Regional Awards of the Department of Health.

In total, Tacurong collected three major awards in the ceremony graced by Assistant Health Secretary Abdullah Dumama on August 23, 2019, at Greenleaf Hotel, General Santos City.

Tacurong bested other cities in the Best-Performing LGUs for Local Health Systems Award.

Meanwhile, former Mayor Lina Montilla was conferred with Outstanding Bridging Leader in Public Health Award under the Local Chief Executive Category. Bridging leadership is anchored on a concept that effects paradigm shift from traditional leadership into a transformational one. The former mayor, a champion of DOH and Zuellig Family Foundation’s Health Leadership and Governance Program, has become a household name in serving as a resource speaker in national and international health governance conferences or colloquiums. Montilla also shared her experiences as a bridging leader during the awarding rites.

Capping the list of awards for Tacurong was the conferment of Outstanding Bridging Leader in Public Health under the City Health Officer Category.

DOH Representative for Sultan Kudarat Dr. Mercedes Manansala, who had been with Tacurong every step of its health governance journey, joined the Tacurong team during the event. (ASF, LGU Information)
