The City of Tacurong received one brand new unit of Jiangte fire truck from the Bureau of Fire Protection and the Department of Interior and Local Government.

Department of the Interior and Local Government Secretary Mel Senen S. Sarmiento and BFP Chief Ariel Bayuga personally turned over the keys of the brand new fire truck to Tacurong City Mayor Lina O. Montilla and City Fire Chief Marjorie Genna Aggabao-Resurreccion during a turnover ceremony on February 19, 2016 at the Quezon City Memorial Circle, Quezon City.

Tacurong City’s fire truck was one of the 155 units turned over during the event. These are the third batch of fire trucks bought from China to be deployed into active service. The DILG and BFP have previously turned over 350 units.

These trucks have 1,000-gallon capacity fire engines and can spew out water as high up as 65 to 75 meters, or around the height of a two-storey building. The trucks are made of stainless steel, and built to pass through steep roads.

“Our new fire truck brings good news to the city. New equipment gives us additional advantage during incidents. We will make sure that this will be efficiently used to save lives and protect the properties of our people,” said Mayor Montilla.

The new fire truck will arrive in Tacurong on or before March 2016. (Jezereel Billano-Fabreag, LGU Information)
