In celebration of the annual Rabies Awareness Month, the City Veterinary Services Office (City Vet) of Tacurong held a free mass rabies vaccination and castration of pet dogs and cats in Barangay San Pablo Gymnasium on March 24.

Dubbed “Libreng Kapon at Bakuna para sa Aso at Pusa — Ipakapon, Huwag Itapon”, the activity was able to register and vaccinate more than 160 pets and castrate another 70.

The operations were led by City Veterinarian Dr. Allan Alimajen with help from other private veterinarians who volunteered for the activity.

Nutri Chunks (San Miguel Inc. Animal Health & Pet Care), Petwellness Animal Clinic, Fanfreluche Enterprise, Inc. also generously sponsored freebies such as pet foods and vitamins.

Also part of the month- long celebration was the advocacy campaign on responsible pet ownership and rabies awareness. The personnel of the City Vet conducted the same at the barangay assemblies.

This year’s Rabies Awareness Month has a theme “Maging Responsableng Amo, Huwag Hayaang Gumala ang Alagang Pusa’t Aso.” (YMR, LGUTac-Info)
