Tacurong City turns a new leaf with Mayor Lechonsito at the helm

In what appears to be an unprecedented event in the history of the city, no oathtaking ceremony was as unified and well-attended as that of newly-elected city mayor Hon. Joseph George L. Lechonsito on June 28, 2022 at the Tacurong City Cultural and Sports Center.
For the first time in a long time, political divisions were set aside. Dignitaries and notable personalities from the provincial and local governments in Sultan Kudarat joined hundreds of Tacurongnons to support Mayor Lechonsito's pledge to become a faithful and honorable leader of the city.
Hon. Suharto T. Mangudadatu, esteemed governor of the province, indulged the newly elected officials as the administering officer.
But while the formal event filled the venue with spiffy Barong Tagalog and elegant Filipiniana attires, the newly minted mayor made sure the message remained straightforward — humility in victory, and excellent service to the people is paramount.
"This is my promise to all my beloved Tacurongnons: I will give the kind of government you deserve, with no less than my blood, toil, sweat, and tears," he vowed in front of hopeful Tacurongnons.
And while the bedecked oathtaking event was intended to be a celebration of the new administration's win, still, Mayor Lechonsito couldn't help but have his work in mind being the highest leader of the city. His message was not about him.
His goal— a Tacurong that is moving forward towards a better life while looking back at the sacrifices of the city's forefathers.
His call to action— unity, cooperation, and volunteerism. "Abante Tayo, Asenso Tacurong!" the new battlecry.
But as a truly accomplished public servant, having served in the legislative for three terms and as a city vice mayor for two, his wisdom was apparent. He acknowledges that the road to his plans and priorities is never a paved one. If anything, his position requires a head on confrontation with criminality, illicit drugs, terrorism, poverty, corruption in government, and mediocre rendering of social, health, and economic services in the city.
Collosal as these challenges, others would have cowered. But not for Mayor Lechonsito. Without missing a beat, he declared, "CHALLENGE ACCEPTED."(YMR, LGUTac-Info)
