The grave threat of the corona virus disease has compelled the Tacurong City COVID-19 Task Force to place the city under general community quarantine that will take effect on March 23, 2020.

Under community quarantine, there will be restrictions on the non-essential entry to Tacurong of non-residents especially of persons who are at risk of being infected, except for the health workers, authorized government officials, those traveling for medical or humanitarian reasons, persons transiting for travel abroad, persons providing basic services and public utilities, and essential skeletal workforce.

Tacurong residents are also prohibited to go out of the city unless they meet the exemptions mentioned above.

One of the provisions of the Executive Order is to prohibit minors 18 years old and below in going out of their houses 24/7.

Senior citizens who are considered vulnerable to the virus are also encouraged to stay at home.

Mayor Angelo Montilla assured the public that movement of food, medical and essential cargoes to and from the city will be unhampered.

Businesses and transport sector will also remain in operation under community quarantine.

Anticipating the long queues of vehicles at the checkpoints on Monday, Mayor Montilla said that portable toilets with lavatories for handwashing will be set up by the city government.

People coming in and going out of the entry and exit points will also undergo thermal scanning.

Meanwhile, the city is adjusting its curfew hours to 9:00PM-5:00AM period in consonance with the proposed curfew time set for the region by the Regional Peace and Order Council.

“In these difficult times, our livelihoods and normal lifestyles are sacrificed; we have to adopt needed measures in order for all of us to survive”, the mayor said.

“I pray that we will win this fight together”, he added. (ASFreno, LGU Information)
