No other LGU in the region gives as much importance to entrepreneurship as to pioneer it through a business week celebration than the City Government of Tacurong. On August 3 to 5, 2016, the 7th Tacurong City Business Week was held simultaneous with the celebration of the city’s foundation anniversary.

With the theme “Sustaining the Unlimited Livelihood Opportunities by Nurturing the Growth of MSMEs”, the business week showcased the entrepreneurial spirit and ingenuity of Tacurongnons by holding the SK Producers Fair,  participated by 13 MSME associations from all over the province of Sultan Kudarat; and the Young Entrepreneurs Fair, which was participated by students from the Notre Dame of Tacurong College, St. Albert’s Polytechnic College, and Sultan Kudarat State University. By the end of the business week, the fairs were able to generate a record-breaking gross income of  Php 298,637.

Further, together with the DTI, DOLE, DOST, and TESDA, the city provided seminars on food safety, food packaging and labeling, and food styling on August 3. This was followed by an investment and financing forum on August 4.

The highlight of the business week was the Damil sang Tacurong – Part 2, Times 2 competition “The Continued Search for Tacurong’s Distinctive Food Products”. With a total of 23 entries, the search focused on the pang-ulam category and the pampasalubong category. A student from SKSU, Rene Boy Obena, won first prize for pang-ulam category with his Veggie Catfish in Coconut Milk; a senior high school student from VF Griño National High School, Christine Jane dela Rosa, won first place with her Cobacon and Egg Breakfast Tarts for the pampasalubong category.
