Hundreds of participants gathered on November 14, 2018 for the first ever Tacurong City Tourism Summit at the Tacurong City Cultural and Sports Center.

LGU Tacurong, through the City Tourism Office, and the Department of Tourism Region XII (DOT-XII) organized the said event as part of the tourism capability building of Tacurong City.

Joining the summit were college and senior high students taking up tourism industry-related courses, barangay officials, and restaurant- and accomodation- owners in the city.

With the theme “Tourism and the Digital Transformation”, resource speakers shared ideas and information on the latest tourism trends, how social media and other digital platforms are shaping the tourism industry, and how such information can be used to improve Tacurong City’s own tourism advocacies.

Resource speakers included Ms. Emelie Jamorabon, City Tourism Operations Officer, who talked about the Tourism Situation in Tacurong; Ms. Donita Rose Andres of DOT-XII, who tackled Trends of Tourism; and Mr. Rolan Emboscado, blogger/vlogger of The Travel Teller, who shared ideas on the Role of Social Media in Tourism Advocacies and Crafting Your Own Tourism Stories.

City Mayor Lina O. Montilla personally welcomed the participants and guests. She was accompanied by Mr. Ismael Arumpac of DOT-XII and Ms. Janet Collado of Tacurong City Tourism Council.

Previously, tricycle drivers, LGU employees, and other stakeholders have undergone similar tourism trainings hosted by the city government.
