The City of Tacurong is among the first local government units to have completed their Social Amelioration Program or SAP cash distributions in Region 12.

Through the City Social Welfare and Development Office (CDWD), the city government began the distribution as early as April 14 starting with the farthest and least populated barangays.

With guidance from the Department of Social Welfare and Development – Region XII, the distributions were held per barangay allowing for mass gathering with strict observance of social distancing.

The main distribution ended on April 22 with Barangay Poblacion, the most populated in the city, preparing three different venues to accomodate their sheer number. Barangay New Isabela, the second most populated, did the same prior.

As per CSWD’s report, there were 16,926 beneficiaries who were able to claim P5000 each during the distribution dates giving a total of P84,630,000.

However, there remained P2,985,000 from 597 unclaimed or disqualified beneficiaries. There was also P420,000 returned cash. These amounts, which totaled to P3,405,000, were re-distributed to other qualified beneficiaries.

In sum, the City of Tacurong was able to distribute P88,035,000 SAP cash assistance to 17,607 beneficiaries.

The distribution was also made possible through the assistance of the City Treasurer’s Office, City Accounting Office, City Planning and Development Coordinator’s Office, Tacurong City PNP, Joint Task Force Talakudong, 1st Mechanized Brigade, and the barangay governments.(YMR, LGUTac-Info)
