Tacurong City successfully concluded its 67th Foundation Anniversary and 3 other festivals on August 3, 2018 after a week-long celebration. The other festivals included the 9th Sulong Tacurong Business Week, the 18th Barangay Day, and the Farmers’ and Entrepreneurs’ Festival 2018.

On 30 July, an opening program was held at the city cultural and sports center to mark the beginning of the 9th Sulong Tacurong Business Week and the opening of the barangay booth contest for the Farmers’ and Entrepreneurs’ Festival. DTI also facilitated the skills training on indigenous christmas decoration making at the Negosyo Center.

On July 31, the public hearing of Comprehensive Land Use Plan (CLUP) was held at the city gym and facilitated by Sangguniang Panlungsod and the City Planning and Development Coordinator Office. DICT and LGU Tacurong also sponsored a crash course on internet literacy at the Tech4Ed center.

Dungog , the first ever spoken word poetry contest of the city was held on August 1 at the city gymnasium; Mary Cris Huquire of Brgy. Lancheta won first place.

On the same day, the SK Producers and Young Entrepreneurs Fair opened at SM Savemore where locally made products were exhibited. An information drive of financing companies was also held at Primark Town Center. At the city hall compound, an investment forum entitled “Doing Business in Tacurong” was ongoing. KOMPOSO, an original composition contest was also held at the city gymnasium participated by the elderly of Tacurong.

A job fair was facilitated by the LGU on August 2 through its Public Employment Service Office and in partnership with the Department of Labor and Employment. Over one hundred applicants turned up to be interviewed by the participating employers. Thirty five of those applicants were hired on the spot.

Simultaneous with the job fair, the DTI was also conducting a seminar on promoting local products through social media under its DTI One Town, One Project program.

August 3 marked the culmination of the festivals and was officially the celebration of Tacurong Day or the 67th Founding Anniversary of Tacurong .

Tacurong Day began with the annual civic parade and headgear competition participated by private organizations and public offices. The entry of the Liga ng mga Barangay won first place.

August 3, the official celebration of Barangay Day 2018, saw the annual larong pinoy conducted at the city hall grounds and participated by children and adults alike.

To cap off the founding anniversary, an awards night was held at the city gym where awards and recognition were conferred to outstanding citizens, business entities, and officials in Tacurong City.(YMR, LGUTac-Info)
