Despite of the restrictions and safety guidelines put in place because of the pandemic, the 20 barangay governments of Tacurong City conducted their annual Barangay Assembly Days this entire month of March.

During the said assemblies, the respective Punong Barangays delivered their State of the Barangay Address (SOBA) with emphasis on financial report, accomplishments their local governments, and COVID-19 activities among others.

Because of these unusual times, the assemblies were also permitted to be conducted even on Saturdays and Sundays.

For instance, Barangay Rajah Muda and Barangay New Isabela conducted their assemblies on March 27, a Saturday.

In her SOBA, Hon. Rhodora Pauya of Rajah Muda reported to her constituents their completed infrastructure projects such as the installation of streetlights worth P300k, rehabilitation of a farm-to-market road worth P250k, and the on-going construction of their 2-storey barangay hall building.

The Barangay Assembly is mandated under the Local Government Code of 1991 where it promotes accountability, transparency, and interaction between and among barangay officials and residents.

The assembly also made way for other information drives such as rabies awareness by the City Health Services Office and proper waste management by the City Environment and Natural Resources Office.

This year’s Barangay Assembly has a theme “BarangayYan: Barangay at Mamamayan, Sama-sama at Mag-kaisa Upang Labanan ang Pandemya Tungo sa Isang Ligtas, Maayos at Maunlad na Pamayanan”.
