The Tacurong City Employees Association (TACEA) bagged the overall championship in the 8th PSEAS Sports Fest held on October 23-25, 2014 in Tacurong City.

PSEAS or the Public Sector Employees’ Alliance of SOCCSKSarGen is composed of 25 local unions in Region XII.

TACEA was declared the overall champion after earning 214 points from different sports events. The Sarangani Provincial Employees’ Union (SPEU) was declared 1st runner-up with 167 points. General Santos City Government Employees’ Association (GSCGEA) was close with 145 points bagging the 2nd runner-up.

TACEA fought head to head with the participating unions to win the championship in every event. Among the highlights were the championship games of Volleyball-Men and Kickball-Men.

For Volleyball-Men, TACEA battled with UPESCO (Union of Provincial Employees of South Cotabato) in the championship game. TACEA dominated the first set but UPESCO immediately blocked TACEA’s rule upon winning the second set. UPESCO did not go any further when TACEA put their game face on and won the 3rd and 4th sets.

TACEA and SKAPE (Sultan Kudarat Association of Provincial Employees), as well, gave spectators an exhilarating championship game for Kickball-Men. SKAPE proved to be a strong opponent but TACEA still bagged the championship.

Aside from Volleyball and Kickball Men, TACEA championed 6 more events, to wit: Dama (Women); Scrabble (Women); Chess (Men); Word Factory (Women); Kadang-Kadang, and Family Sack Race.

The 8th PSEAS Sports Fest, hosted by TACEA, is conducted in celebration of the alliance’s 14th foundation anniversary.

“I sincerely hope that PSEAS member unions were able to discover the beauty our city has to offer. We hope they experienced Tacurongnon hospitality at its best,” said TACEA President Amelia Bochorno. Bochorno commended the PSEAS executive officers, headed by President Bobby Saya-ang of SPEU, for its strong coordination with all the unions.

Tacurong City Mayor Lina O. Montilla gave due acknowledgment to the local chief executives of the participating unions for encouraging the implementation of policies and reforms that benefit the public sector employees. (LGU Tacurong City Information)
