PWDs in Tacurong celebrate NDPR Week with talent and skills showcase Differently abled persons in Tacurong City, also referred to as persons with disabilities (PWD), celebrated the National Disability Prevention and Rehabilitation Week (NDPR Week) by showcasing their talents and skills in a competition on 23 July 2019 at the CDRRMC building.

The PWD participants represented their barangay clusters and showed their talents in singing and dancing as well as the different skills they acquired through the trainings provided by the city government. Joliver Caupe, a visually impaired resident of Barangay San Pablo, bagged the first prize during the PWDs Got Talent while Luceno Aradanas of Barangay San Emmanuel won first place for the Best Skilled PWD for excelling in vulcanizing despite having an orthopedic disability.

This year’s NDPR Week celebration has the theme ” Lokal na Pamahalaan: Kabalikat sa Pagtupad ng Karapatan ng mga Taong may Kapansanan”. And indeed, in the City of Tacurong, the city government takes active responsibility in the upliftment of the economic and social conditions of the PWDs by providing them with skills training and livelihood, and organizing social activities that celebrate their roles in nation building.(YMR, LGUTac-Info)
