The Philippine Councilors’ League-Tacurong City Chapter in partnership with the Red Cross of the Philippines-Sultan Kudarat Chapter and LGU-Tacurong in celebration of the 122nd Philippine Civil Service Anniversary, conducted the DUGONG KONSEHAL: A BLOOD LETTING ACTIVITY on Friday, September 9, 2022 at the CDRRM Office, Tacurong City.
This is a course of action in promoting public health and in consortium with Ordinance No. 051-05, series of 2016, “An Ordinance Establishing the Voluntary Blood Donation Program in the City of Tacurong”, conducted every First Friday of September in line with the PCL Week.
The 9th Sangguniang Panlungsod members headed by Vice Mayor Lina O. Montilla, Hon. Geronimo Arzagon, Hon. Lalaine Montilla, Hon. Geraldine Collado, Hon. Carlos Segura and Hon. Harvey Legas, honored the event in supporting the activity. LGU-Tacurong HRMO Head Ms. Elsa Indanao, MPA was also present during the event.
Hon. Arzagon delivered a message of gratitude thanking all government and private organizations supporting the event. Meanwhile, he also thanked the Philippine Councilors' League for being an active organization encouraging the people of Tacurong to donate blood and save lives.
VM Lina O. Montilla also conveyed her message of appreciation, thanking the organizations for their overwhelming support. She reiterated that donating blood is a simple act to do but the challenge is to maintain sufficient supplies to help and save lives. She mentioned, "As far as we are concerned, we are still getting referrals to nearby provinces and cities so that we can get blood banks". The beloved Vice Mayor encourages everyone, especially those in stable health, to participate in regular blood letting program so that one day, the City of Tacurong will no longer have problem with adequate blood supply.
Ms. May Ann Joloro, RN, Chapter Representative of the Red Cross Sultan Kudarat Chapter, gave some inputs on the benefits of the donors when donating a blood, and she conveyed that most of the recipients of blood continued to live because of the generous donors.
People from various sectors and organizations volunteered to donate and save lives. The Philippine Councilors’ League as well as the partners of the organization are looking forward for more donors for the yearly blood-letting program.
