PDEA trains community leaders on anti-illegal drug advocacy

In a bid to mainstream anti-illegal drug advocacy at the grassroots, community leaders were capacitated through a training of trainers on July 7 and 8, 2022.

Personnel of Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) served as resource speakers in the two-day activity organized by the Tacurong City Anti-Drug Abuse Council (CADAC).

Officials from the 20 barangays participated in the training that was also attended by the Local Youth Development Council, as well as personnel from the City Social Welfare and Development Office and City Health Office.

Members of the Tacurong City Police Station and personnel from the City Schools Division were also in attendance.

The training kicked off with the basic topics like giving the participants information on present drug situation, as well as drug identification, and effects of using drugs.

Other topics presented during the training included the following: establishment and institutionalization of drug-free workplace and laying down the guidelines for community involvement in reforming drug offenders into law-abiding members pf society.

Mayor Joseph Lechonsito, who also chairs the Anti-Drug Abuse Council, conveyed his gratitude to the PDEA for helping the city government in its fight against drugs.

“This training is another way to scale up of our anti-drug initiatives”, he said.

Meanwhile, members of the Sangguniang Panlungsod Committee on Peace and Order, chaired by Hon. Bernardino Umadhay, Jr., manifested their support to the training by personally attending the activity.

Other city councilors present during the training were: Hon. Ralen Tabusares-Bernardo, Hon. Harvey Legas, Hon. Geraldine Collado, and Hon. Ma. Cristina Duadua. (ASF, LGUTac-Info)
