Engulfed in gleaming stellar adornments, LGU-Tacurong has formally left in 2020 its tooth-achingly sweet Candyland as it launched this year’s star-embellished Inugyunay Festival, yearning to revive the festive ambiance of Christmas in the city after 2 years of grappling against the COVID-19 pandemic.

Spearheaded by City Mayor Lino O. Montilla, hundreds of sparkly decorations at the City Hall Ground, including the spectacle of the 40-feet Christmas Tree wrapped in Yuletide ornaments and decked out in a flickering play of light, were simultaneously illuminated through a Ceremonial Switch On, December 6, 2021.

This grand Lights On rite was succeeded by a jam-packed variety production, showcasing the local talents of Tacurong City who were hailed as titleholders on various singing and dancing competitions in Sultan Kudarat Province.

Also, one of the highlights of the Opening Salvo was the presentation of beauties from the 20 barangays of Tacurong vying for the crown of Ms. Inugyunay 2021 who will be proclaimed later on this December 20.

Another standout performance of the night was the stomping Anyo and Duelo Presentation of the Tacurong City Arnis Team who was also recently declared as 2nd Runner-up during the 1st National Finals Sports Skills Demonstration Contest of the Department of Education.

Further, to enliven this year’s “Heal As One. Shine As One” theme of Inugyunay Festival, City Mayor Lino O. Montilla and City Councilor Lina O. Montilla echoed the same message that for us, as a city in totality, to fully get back on our feet amidst our struggles, we need to continue being united with the government and submit ourselves to its encouragement to become fully vaccinated.

They also hope that this special Christmas attractions the city government prepared, may uplift spirits and ignite even just little glimmer of happiness in every Tacurongnon.

Topping off the festival launching, a mini firework display has once again blazed up the night sky after the activity’s absence for 2 years in the LGU’s celebration.

It was just a little sneak peak of what entails the full firework exhibit on December 23.

Prior to the opening program, a Holy Mass was offered followed by the blessing of newly opened Magsaysay Food Stalls – both officiated by Rev. Fr. Allen Polaron, DCC. (DECostas, LGU-TacInformation)
