The Local Government Unit of Tacurong City is set to receive P48,330,974.00 assistance from the national government to boost its war chest against the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) crisis.

The fund assistance is equivalent to a one-month Internal Revenue Allotment (IRA) of the city.

It is part of the “Bayanihan Grant to Cities and Municipalities” provided for under Local Budget Circular 125 issued by the Department of Budget and Management on April 7, 2020.

The grant is also one of the various temporary emergency measures adopted by President Rodrigo Duterte to respond to the crisis brought about by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Earlier today, Mayor Angelo Montilla called for a meeting of the LGU’s finance committee to discuss possible programs, projects, and activities to be sourced out from the grant.

The City Development Council also convened afterward for an urgent meeting to discuss the matter.

Mayor Montilla said that a big portion of the budget will be used to provide food assistance to the affected households in the city.

The city government also plans to allocate a portion of the funds for the purchase of personal protective equipment, disinfection supplies and equipment, hospital/isolation center equipment & supplies, and medicines & vitamins.

The mayor assured that the breakdown of the grant will be disseminated to the public to make everything transparent.

“We will make sure that our people will know where the funds will go down to the last centavo”, he said. (ASF, LGU Information)
