Simplifying technology by connecting communities— this is the main thrust of the partnership between Globe Telecom, one of the country's premier network provider, and the City Government of Tacurong.
Represented by City Mayor Joseph George L. Lechonsito, the city entered into a Memorandum of Agreement or MOA with Globe for the installation of GoWIFI, its free high-speed WIFI access, to be installed in public spaces in the city.
City councilors Hon. Ralen Tabusares, Hon. Harvey Legas, Hon. Bernardino Umadhay, Hon. Nestor Casador, and Hon. Geraldine Collado were also present to witness the event.
A program was conducted for the purpose at the Tacurong City Cultural and Sports Center on July 26 with full support from Globe Telecom's Jun Juada, Cluster Sales Head; Jimbo Cordero, Region Sales Head; James Norman Chiong, Area Sales Head; Matot Baltazar, Trade Marketing Manager; Maersk Labandero, Territory Sales Head; and Territory Partners Jose Emmanuel Cuevas and Bryan Bantilan.
In Juada's message, it was friendship with Mayor Lechonsito and Globe's commitment to its social responsibility that paved the way for the said partnership. But with a warm welcome and sincere gratitude from the representatives of the city, Juada extended its willingness to partner again with Tacurong whenever needed or invited in the future.
For his part, Mayor Lechonsito was grateful and proud to accept the first 3 areas of GoWIFI spots in the city — the Tacurong City Hall building; Tacurong City Public Market; and Tacurong City Public Terminal. A fourth GoWIFI will be installed at the Magsaysay Park.
Mayor Lechonsito also proudly shared that Globe has already provided the city with 15 free WIFI devices to be installed in the barangays. Another 10 was set to be given that day.
The ceremony ended with the signing of the MOA by Mayor Lechonsito for the LGU, as well as City Vice Mayor Lina O. Montilla represented by Hon. Tabusares, and Juada for Globe.
