LGU continues thermal fogging to abate dengue cases

The Local Government Unit of Tacurong City continued its fogging operations in the barangays to eliminate the breeding grounds of moquitoes and to lessen the growing number of dengue cases in the city.

The fumigation came on the heels of the rising cases in Tacurong making it a hotspot area. Report from Office for City Health Services recorded 381 dengue cases as of first week of July.

The LGU made stops in three school this morning of July 27: San Emmanuel National High School-Annex in San Pablo, San Emmanuel Elementary School, and Casilda Venus Elementary School both located in Barangay San Emmanuel.

City Disaster Risk Reduction Management Officer Rodrigo Jamorabon led the team in fogging operations composed of other personnel from City Environment and Natural Office and Health Office.

Mayor Angelo ‘Roncal’ Montilla has ordered the offices involved to intensify the campaign against dengue. He also urged the people of doing their share of eliminating breeding grounds of mosquitoes in their own households.

DOH has already recorded 10,068 dengue cases in Region 12 including 46 deaths. Cotabato Province showed the highest number of cases at 3,411, but it was Sultan Kudarat that recorded the most number of deaths at 19.

In Tacurong, five barangays have been declared as high-risk areas for dengue: San Pablo, Poblacion, New Isabela, Upper Katungal, and Baras. (LGU Information)
