MANILA, Philippines— Tacurong City Mayor Lina O. Montilla had been named a ‘Champion of Good Governance’ by the Kaya Natin! (KN) Movement for Good Governance and Ethical Leadership. Mayor Montilla took her Pledge of Good Governance and oath of membership before KN Board Member Senator Teofisto ‘TG’ Guingona III on December 13, 2014 at the Club Filipino.
Present during the oath-taking ceremony of Mayor Montilla was one of KN’s founders KN Chairperson former Pampanga Governor Maong Ed Panlilio.
Kaya Natin! is a movement composed of concerned Filipinos from different sectors of society that aim to advocate genuine change and ethical leadership in the Philippines. KN was formally launched in 2008 through the Ateneo de Manila School of Government with former Naga City Mayor Jesse Robredo, Isabela Governor Grace Padaca, and former Pampanga Governor Ed Panlilio.
Mayor Montilla was cited for her dedication to excellence in the public service. She was introduced to KN members as one who promotes good local governance in Tacurong as proven with numerous awards received by the city during her first and second term.
Tacurong City was awarded the Civil Service Seal of Excellence in 2010, the Most Child-Friendly City in Region 12 in 2010, and the Seal of Good Housekeeping Bronze and Silver.
DILG also recognized Tacurong in the Gawad Pamana ng Lahi 2012, being one of the Top 5 national finalists. Among the finalists were big cities such as Vigan, Puerto Princesa, and Makati.
For Mayor Montilla, to be recognized by Kaya Natin! is an honor. “I share this recognition to all my fellow servants in the city government. We are all champions as we continue to serve the people of Tacurong with integrity and honesty,” said Mayor Montilla.
