Merited for its exemplary implementation and support of the programs of the Department of Social Welfare and Development Region XII (DSWD 12), the Local Government Unit (LGU) of Tacurong bagged four Pagkilala sa Natatanging Kontribusyon sa Bayan (PaNaTa Ko sa Bayan) awards from DWSD 12 on March 19, 2021, at The Farm, Carpenter Hill, Koronadal City.
Under the PaNaTa Ko sa Bayan Awards, Tacurong was commended with two Gawad Paglilingkod sa Sambayanan (GAPAS) Awards— the Model LGU Implementing Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program and LGU Implementing an Outstanding Sustainable Livelihood Program (SLP) Micro enterprise Development Model.
It was also given one Gawad Serbisyo Award received by Gender and Development (GAD) Technical Working Group Chairperson Nancy M. Bawe for being an active external volunteer and support on the conduct of multiple programs and services for women and children during the COVID-19 pandemic, and one “Salamat Po!” Award conferred to City Mayor Angelo O. Montilla for his significant role towards DSWD 12’s projects in the locality.
In the region, Tacurong excelled among other LGUs and was the only city to receive the two specific GAPAS awards for having its efforts in assuring the sustainability of the livelihood programs translated into aces on the criteria set for the awards.
Some of the standards the LGU has successfully carried out were the dispense and liquidation of financial assistance, provision of facilities to cater the various program personnel, and the submission of updated accomplishment and progress reports.
The LGU was represented in the awarding ceremony by Rogelio Garcia, Executive Assistant to Mayor Montilla. “I’d like to give encouragement to the DSWD to continue its efforts and for all other LGUs to recognize the DSWD as well,” said Garcia who also expressed his thanks on behalf of Mayor Montilla towards the awards given.
DSWD 12 Regional Director Cezario Joel C. Espejo also conveyed his message towards the people in attendance coming from private and government agencies in the region.
The awarding was conducted in consonance with the 70th Anniversary of DSWD with the theme ” DSWD: Kabalikat ng Mahihirap sa Panahon ng Pandemya”. It aimed to shed light to people and organizations who vowed to ensure beneficial undertakings for various sectors of the community especially to the marginalized recipients. (DEC, LGU-TacInformation)
