Mayor Sara Duterte brings meet-ang-greet to Tacurong

Amid her tight itinerary, Davao City Mayor Sara ‘Inday’ Duterte-Carpio managed to sneak in Tacurong City to her long list of engagements to attend an intimate meet-and-greet with the local officials of the city government, January 07, 2021.
Clad in a green T-shirt, Inday Sara appeared before a limited number of dignitaries including City Mayor Lino O. Montilla, City Vice Mayor Lalaine J. Montilla, City Councilor Lina O. Montilla – to whom Mayor Sara shares a bond with since 2010–, the rest of the Sangguniang Panlungsod, and the 20 punong barangays of Tacurong at The Palm Pavilion in Brgy. Calean.
In his message, Mayor Lino uttered his warm reception of Mayor Sara for gracing Tacurong, as well as his profuse gratitude to the latter for her numerous assistances to the city over the years – one being the provision of COVID-19 Test Kits which was personally initiated by Mayor Sara through a phone call with the late City Mayor Angelo “Roncal” O. Montilla during the onset of the pandemic 2 years ago.
Further, Councilor Lina also took the podium to articulate her initial encounter with Mayor Sara during her first-timer stint in the League of Cities of the Philippines back in 2010.
In Councilor Lina’s account, as a novice Local Chief Executive (LCE) then, she took Mayor Sara as an epitome of a true public servant and even considers her as a mentor even though the former’s older than Mayor Inday.
Moreover, the then Mayor Lina also cited Mayor Sara as her source of strategies and implementations in alleviating the difficulties of Tacurong during her tenure as the city’s LCE for 9 years.
All of these lauds towards Mayor Sara were gratefully reciprocated as she herself also expressed her appreciation to the City Government of Tacurong for gracing her meet-and-greet.
Mayor Sara conveyed that all her support to Tacurong ever since are her means of lifting other nearby cities and municipalities in Mindanao and Tacurong is just one of the many.
She also reminded everyone to continue loving the nation by following through the government’s initiatives.
Present also to the simple gathering were former Senator Jinggoy Estrada and Davao Occidental Governor Claude Baustista.
Former Mayor Helen Latog of Esperanza along with the other LCEs and vice mayors of some of the Sultan Kudarat municipalities – Mayor Maritess Pallasigue of Isulan, Mayor Rolando Garcia of Kalamansig, and Mayor Frederick Celestial of Lebak – have also joined the meet-and-greet.
Prior to the gathering, Mayor Inday and her team dined in for a lunch at Mama’s Love restaurant, a proof that the public servant has not only grown fond of the officials, the Montillas per se, but also of the City of Goodwill. (DEC, LGUTac-Information)

Sparks flew and lights splattered over the dark-lit sky with the array of fireworks bursting on this year’s culmination of Inugyunay Festival, December 23, 2021.
In sync with the lyrics and rhythm of the song “Fireworks”, the pyrotechnics flashed up above a sea of people watching from the City Hall Ground and even lasted for at least 15 minutes for them to enjoy.

Before the spectacle ensued, a live Christian Worship was initiated by City Councilor David Salazar along with a choir and band.

Succeeding this religious undertaking, a group of singers from General Santos performed to usher at the beginning of the festivity that night.
City Mayor Lino O. Montilla and City Vice Mayor Lalaine J. Montilla, as well as the other members of the Sangguniang Panlungsod of Tacurong, articulated their season’s greetings via recorded messages, which were played leading up to the fireworks show.

Mayor Lino and Vice Mayor Lalaine echoed the same sentiments that because of the collaborative efforts of the people of Tacurong, this year’s celebration has come to fruition. Along with this thought, both of them also commended and thanked the people for such obedience to the health protocols – a feat that entailed the downward trend of the COVID-19 cases in Tacurong.

This year’s exhibit marks a comeback for the Grand Fireworks Display in the city after being missing from the Inugyunay merry-making last year due to the onslaught of the COVID-19 crisis.

Although the festival has been concluded for this December, people can still visit and wander around the City Hall Ground to marvel in the starry and glimmering Christmas adornments the city government has prepared. (DECostas, LGU-TacInformation)
