For Susan Gamboa, her daily chores in the house and her balut vending have become routinary and quite boring.

“Mag-obra sa balay, tapos magbaligya. Pabalik-balik lang adlaw-adlaw,” she shared.

She had that same routine until she decided to join the LGU Nutrition EGGducation course upon the invitation of her fellow members in the Balut Vendors SEA-K Association.

“Nagapasalamat guid ako nga nakasali ako sa sini nga seminar kay nakatuon guid ako sang kaayuhan para sa nutrisyon sang pamilya..kag nagka panahon man kami sang mga upod ko nga mag-bonding,” declared Gamboa.

Every Tuesday, from May 26 to June 30, Susan and fifty-one more members of the Association attended EGGducation classes at the Tacurong CDRRMC. The City Social Welfare and Development Office facilitated the course hoping to raise awareness on the health benefits of eggs.
“Eggs are the cheapest source of high quality protein. Through this course, we intend to make our balut vendors understand the value of their product, not just for their livelihood but to the health of their family,” said Nutrition Office Lorna Pama.

During the closing ceremonies of Nutrition EGGducation on July 7, Mayor Lina O. Montilla and Councilor Rodrigo Jamorabon thanked the Association for their active participation.

“Ang amon pasalamat amon ipaabot sa paagi nga magpisan pa guid kami kag palanggaon namon ang mga proyekto o serbisyo nga ginahatag sa amon,” Association President Edna Maravilla stated.

Balut Vendors SEA-K Association will soon receive Nego Karts worth P749 Thousand from the Department of Labor and Employment. The livelihood assistance was made possible through the initiative of Mayor Lina O. Montilla in 2014. (LGU-Tacurong City Information)
