33 SCHOOLS PARTICIPATE IN A 3-DAY FOLK DANCE WORKSHOP

Tacurong City – Thirty-three schools from different clusters of the city participated in the 2nd Tacurong Folkdance Seminar Workshop prepared by the City Government of Tacurong through the Tacurong City Culture and Arts Council in partnership with National Commission for Culture and Arts (NCAA) on July 27-29, 2022 at the City Cultural and Sports Center.
The participants were students, teachers, and dance enthusiasts. 26 elementary schools and 7 secondary institutions both public and private registered in the said event.
Ms. Emelie P. Jamorabon, Tourism Officer together with Hon. Ralen Tabusares-Bernardo the Committee Chairperson on Tourism, Culture, and Arts spearheaded the program.
Also present was Ms. Rona N. Tacot, Education Program Supervisor –I from DepEd Tacurong. She also introduced the guest speakers for the seminar workshop.
Tacurong City Culture and Arts Council invited two veteran Folk Dance trainers, Dr. Adonis Voltaire Villanueva, Vice President of the Philippine Folk Dance Society, an artistic director, and assistant professor from Central Luzon State University shared his expertise on the first day of the seminar-workshop.
Dr. Corazaon O. Agustin, a choreographer, and also an artistic director who is part of the National Committee on Dance Member of NCAA will also share her knowledge in the 3-day symposium.
“Through this activity, I hope that we will be able to preserve our culture and arts; we could relive our history through this form of art,” said Hon. Ralen Tabusares-Bernardo, city councilor. (FAR, LGU-Information)
